CANYONING

Canyoning is an outdoor recreation that represents a descent through a river gorge (canyons). Unlike other sports such as rafting, kayaking, or hydrospeeding. Canyoning is performed on foot without the use of canoes or dinghies.

LOWERING TECHNIQUE

Roads are divided into two categories: water and dry, and this partly determines the type of equipment used.

In any case, you always go down the river/canyon (never the other way around). Using ropes where jumping and diving are possible.

The creators of this activity were speleologists, the first explorers of mountains, valleys, and caves.

The environment in which this activity is performed is by its very nature inhospitable.

Although it does not belong to extreme sports.

This is because the river flows through narrow gorges deeply carved into the rocks, with strong vertical waterfalls, which prevents it from retreating or exiting the canyon at any time.

This sport must be performed in groups.

Which usually includes 4 to 6 people.

With the right training and technique, it is possible to safely perform this video while enjoying both the natural beauty and the exciting descent down the watercourses.

EXPERIENCE

Words of my spouse:

The journey through life into the unknown is my reality. That is how I realized myself and my inclination towards something new and unexplored. During 2018, I found myself on the mountain Zabljak in Montenegro. In those days we went on a tour of unreal and beautiful landscapes, healthy food, clean water, and fresh air. We came up with the idea to visit the Nevidio canyon. A place was unknown to me until then. Of course, I embarked on an adventure, not realizing what awaited me.

We were given equipment:

A diving suit, helmets and lifebelts.

At first glance, we looked ridiculous to ourselves.

The guides were very serious.

That’s when I realized. This wasn’t just walking on water.

For a moment, I remembered a documentary I watched a couple of years ago.

In a canyon, 50 people were stuck.

They were pulled out of the canyon by rescue teams by helicopter.

It didn’t take me long to find out that this was the tycoon we were heading to.

The guide asks for the last time “Who is not ready, can give up”.

We walked on and came to the first rock, where we had to crawl under it, diving to the exit.

The first immersion in water of about 7 degrees and the entry of water through the holes in the suit was unpleasant. But I soon forgot about it, trying to see the light through the water, to emerge.

I passed the first task and went out on the rock. I was looking where to step.

The stone in the water is covered with moss and it is slippery.

On that occasion, I wore Asics sneakers, which I thought were not adapted to canyoning.

But I quickly realized that they were ideal for such conditions and I felt safe in them.

I recommend Asics sneakers for extreme sports as well.

We walked, swam, and it was our turn to jump about 12 meters.

There is a risk of hitting a rock when jumping.

I sat on the rock, clinging to a tree and wondering what I needed all this for. They hurried me and encouraged me to jump. My legs were shaking and my heart was beating faster. I was aware that I could not wait any longer. I stepped forward and jumped. It lasted forever, I screamed.

The descent down the Nevidio canyon lasted 3 hours. When I thought it was over, I was about to climb. I take off some of the equipment because it is starting to get very hot. We did not take any drinking water and strong cramps and muscle pains began to appear. In front of us was a difficult stone path, we grabbed the branches to climb to the top. The climb up the mountain took more than 2 hours. I didn’t feel my body. We came to a spring of water, where I fell to my knees and drank cold spring water. We waited for the rest of the group to arrive. We looked at each other for a long time and said nothing.

It was the end of my adventure, canyoning.

Despite everything I went through, I would go again and recommend this adventure to everyone, CANYONING in NEVIDIO.
